Call for Proposals

2025 Leadership Institute

October 14–16, 2025 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Out and Authentic: Leading with Pride in Precarious Times

The 2025 Leadership Institute invites LGBTQ+ leaders to gather in community, grounded in purpose and mutual support. This year, we center collective care, trans and gender expansive leadership, and intersectional learning as vital pathways for sustaining ourselves and one another. In a time of political uncertainty and cultural change, we lean into connection — building bridges, nurturing resilience, and cultivating spaces where LGBTQ+ leadership can thrive with authenticity and intention.

The planning committee is looking for a limited number of 75 minute sessions. We also will consider these submissions for future virtual programming. Members of the LGBTQ Leaders in Higher Education (individual or institutional) are eligible to submit proposals. See our list of institutional members here.

Submit by June 3, 2025

We seek proposals that align with our mission and the 2025 Institute’s focus on:

  • Intersectional Learning: Fostering dialogue and mentorship across differences within the LGBTQ+ community.

The Conference Presentation Proposal Should Address the Following

  1. Presentation Title:
    • Provide a concise and descriptive title for your presentation.
  2. Presentation Abstract:
    • Summarize the main points and objectives of your presentation.
  3. Learning Objectives:
    • Outline what attendees will learn or take away.
  4. Presentation Format (sessions will be 75 minutes):
    • Specify the format (e.g., panel discussion, interactive session).
  5. Presenter(s) Information:
    • Provide names, titles, affiliations, and brief bios of all presenters.
  6. Technical Requirements:
List any specific needs (e.g., AV equipment, internet access).

These questions are designed to ensure that both workshops and presentations contribute meaningfully to the professional development of LGBTQ leaders in higher education, in line with the organization’s mission.
